  • Location: Bant
  • Education: Bioinformatics
  • Working week: 36-40 hours
  • Compensation: € 500 per month
  • Internship: traineeship with room to complete assignments
  • Period: the internship period will be arranged in mutual consultation

What will you do?

During your internship, you will be part of our research team consisting of about eight colleagues. To analyse and interpret data on our breeding material, you will combine biological insights, genetic data and statistics. You design experiments in consultation with your colleagues from the biotech team. You make the information obtained suitable for application in practical breeding. Techniques include genetic prediction (genomic selection) and marker assisted breeding via GWAS and QTL mapping. You will gain broad experience in bioinformatics tasks within potato breeding.

What do we require?

We are looking for an intern who:

  • A relevant university or college degree programme in the field of bioinformatics.
  • Has relevant knowledge of genomics and proficient with statistical software such as R or Phyton and various genotyping techniques.
  • Is available 36-40 hours per week to work in the field.
  • Wants to participate in various studies within the biotech team.
  • Has a mix of analytical, social and data engineering skills.
  • Accurate in work and able to make the right connections to arrive at (innovative) solutions.
  • Good command of the English language and can present conclusions both orally and in writing.
  • Inquisitive and keen to keep abreast of novelties in this rapidly developing field.

Affinity with plant breeding is an advantage, but not essential.
